Clarington is a municipality within Durham Region in Ontario. With a total population of 101,427 in 2021, Clarington has become increasingly popular for residents due to its proximity to larger cities like Oshawa. Best of all, it consists of smaller townships where people can enjoy rural or small-town comforts without living too far from the city.
Oshawa is home to General Motors Canada, one of the top employers. Clarington is also home to the Darlington Nuclear Power Generating Station, a significant employer for Clarington and the surrounding area. There are also plenty of medium to large manufacturing centres which employ thousands.
In addition, Clarington is known for popular Ontario attractions such as the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Jungle Cat World & Cedar Park.
Clarington was named in the 70s after the merging of two townships, Clark and Darlington.
